🌍 Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral infection found in many tropical and subtropical regions including parts of Asia, South America, Central America, the Caribbean, Africa and the Pacific.
🦟 Dengue is spread by Aedes mosquitoes, which commonly bite during the daytime.
Important Eligibility Information
The dengue vaccine currently used in the UK is Qdenga®.
📌 In the UK, dengue vaccination is generally recommended for individuals with evidence or a likely history of previous dengue infection
🧪 Previous infection may be confirmed through previous laboratory testing or reliable medical history
🌍 People who have previously lived in dengue-endemic regions may have been exposed in the past
🩺 Your suitability for vaccination will be assessed during your travel consultation

What Is Dengue?
Dengue is a viral infection spread by infected mosquitoes, particularly in tropical and subtropical climates.

Dengue Vaccine Schedule
💉 Dengue vaccination with Qdenga® is given as a course of two injections.
📅 Dose 1: Day 0
📅 Dose 2: 3 months after the first dose
✈️ Ideally complete the course at least 2 weeks before travel
🔁 Booster recommendations are still being evaluated
📌 Your pharmacist will advise the most appropriate timing based on your travel plans and eligibility
🩺 Qdenga® is a live attenuated dengue vaccine licensed for individuals aged 4 years and over.
Mosquito Bite Prevention Advice
Dengue vaccination should always be combined with mosquito bite prevention measures.
🦟 Use insect repellent containing DEET where appropriate
👕 Wear long sleeves and long trousers
🏨 Use air-conditioned or screened accommodation where possible
🛏️ Use mosquito nets where necessary
🌞 Dengue mosquitoes commonly bite during daytime hours
Important Safety Information
Dengue vaccination may not be suitable for everyone.

🚫 Not suitable for some immunocompromised individuals
